By Carol and Cyril
Beni was well known as a leading geologist in the identification and development of the Soroako Nickel deposit in Sulawesi. We knew him better as the Administration Manager of the project during our time in Soroako from 1983 to 1987.
Beni became a mentor, not only to his Indonesian colleagues but also to many of the expatriates working on the project, including Cyril.
Beni’s personality was well suited to his role as Administration Manager which included the Human Resource function. Beni was able to resolve many issues in his quiet professional manner.
We have fond memories of our many social activities with Beni and his family including the celebration of a common birthday with Caroline.
We feel privileged to have been included as a friend and will long remember our pleasant experiences with the Wahju family.
